The brand new W17 Trimaran from the drawing board of Canadian designer Mike Waters is primarily for home built completion, with an impressive 52 plan sets now sold into 12 countries.

The example we have here is owned and built by Andrew Johnson of Malvest Marine in the Philippines. He is an avid sailor having already completed over 800 miles in his W17 this year, which included a 300 mile, 8 day race held around the Philippine islands last month.

We were delighted to help with the specification of the W17. We supplied the 24mm ‘I’ section Barton mainsheet track (the design of which allows for some extreme track curving, allowing perfect set of the high aspect mainsail). The system also features a 2:1 purchase and cleating system which is easily reached from the helm position. We are also supplying the blocks and furlers for controlling the jib.

You can see all the details on the W17 via Mike’s website www.smalltrimarandesign.com. Look out for his new W22 due out soon.
