Although it may appear that paddleboarding is a relatively new sport, it’s actually been around since the 1940s. Waikiki surf instructors began “SUP” as a way to stand on their boards as an alternative way to surf when there was very little swell. Since exploding in popularity a decade ago, paddleboarding continues to be the wunderkid of the paddle sports world. More than six million people paddleboard annually – contributing to a 120% growth in the sport over a year.
As a company always looking to innovate and with an eye on this area of growth, we were excited to launch our new QuickCleat™ product at METS in Amsterdam in November. This clever product secures ropes with no knots and is easy to install – perfect for paddleboarders and kayakers alike. METS is the most important trade show in our calendar and brings together more than 26,000 marine professionals. We hosted a launch party for colleagues and the press to celebrate the launch of the QuickCleat™ and introduce our new Ratchet block – both products were very well received and are now available for purchase.
We look forward to our displays at Paris Boat Show 8-16 December and exhibiting at the consumer show, Boot Düsseldorf between 19-27 January 2019 with our German distributor Lindemann.
Have a very Happy Christmas from all of us here at Barton Marine and happy sailing for the 2019 season ahead.
