Barton Support Women in the Marine Industry
Barton Support Women in the Marine Industry

After a great success in 2018 the Women in the Marine Industry Event at Seawork will once again be sponsored by Barton Marine and take place during the afternoon of Wednesday 12th June at the show.

Assisting career development and encouraging diversity within the marine industry is an ongoing ambition being driven forward by Maritime UK’s Women’s Task Group and Barton Marine is proud to support this activity.

Barton believes that hosting networking events such as Women in Marine, provides a great opportunity for thought leaders to share their stories and career pathways, encouraging everyone down the career pipeline to overcome challenges and push on to achieve their personal goals within the marine industry.   Bringing people together helps build a stronger community within the industry and creates a support network where ideas, best practice and opportunities can be passed between peers.

“The 2018 Women in Marine event was a great success and with the respected, well known speakers lined up for 2019, it looks to build upon last year.  I look forward to joining many industry colleagues at Seawork and getting to know those who have joined the sector in the last twelve months.”  Suzanne Blaustone – CEO Barton Marine

Speakers include Sue Terpilowski OBE who is the Chair of the Maritime UK Women’s Task Group and President of Women in Shipping and Trade UK.  She has been integral in helping to provide educational activities, events and exchange opportunities for women working across the sector.  She also holds board level positions for the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, London Freight Forum and Federation of Small Businesses.  Sue started in the Marine Industry more than 31 years ago when she set up Image Line Communications, a PR and marketing agency for the maritime sector.  Sue will be joined by Zella Compton, a well known writer, who’s career has spanned all areas of writing from plays, books and poetry through to journalism.  She has a weekly column with the Portsmouth News.

The 2019 event will be held in the Maritime Journal Lounge at 15.30 – 17.30 on Wednesday 12th June at Seawork.  Ensure to register your attendance in advance by following this link – https://www.seawork.com/visit-and-whats-on/women-in-marine-industry/women-in-the-marine-industry.
