One of the UK's leading deck hardware manufacturers, Barton Marine is launching its new DO550 Clutch for controlling halyards up to 12 mm at METS 2007. Barton's new single rope clutch design means exceptional strength and ease of operation.
Using high quality materials that withstand the harsh marine environment, the clutch is extremely durable and impact resistant, with a maximum holding power of up to 550 kg. The high grade plastic components coupled with aluminium cams and bases in the 'Spectro' anodised finish that is featured on many Barton products ensure a strong yet lightweight product.
Operating the clutch is easy thanks to the strong, easy to hold handle, which makes opening and closing the clutch mechanism simple and precise. The design also allows the lines to be adjusted with minimal slippage when in the closed, locked position.
Yacht maintenance was also considered during the design of the Clutch. The stainless steel rope fairleads at the entry and exit points help prevent wear to the lines and the clutch. In addition, the bolt-together construction makes it easier for checking the parts during maintenance.
The removable insert panel at the top of the clutch's handle allows coloured, labelled inserts to be easily added and replaced dependent on the function of the unit. Inserts include a range of functions such as 'Genoa', 'Main', and 'Spinnaker Halyard', which are available as an optional extra in either cruising or racing specific packs.
The DO550 Clutch is priced at £38.00 excluding VAT (RRP).
